Method:

1) Firstly pre-heat the oven to gas mark 3/ 325F/ 160C and line a baking tray with grease proof paper. Make sure the tin is either square or rectangle and at least 2cm deep.
2) Start off by creaming the butter and sugar until you have a light and fluffy mixture. Then add in the egg and mix well.
3) Next sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the wet mixture and mix everything altogether until it has combined really well.
4) Once your mixture is ready, pour into the tin filling about 3/4 of the way and bake in the oven for approximately 25-30 minutes. To check if itās done get a butter knife and cut through the middle of the cake and if it comes out clean then itās ready! Let it cool for a few minutes and then lift it out with the grease proof paper. Let the cake cool for another 15 minutes and in the meantime you can prepare your toppings!
5) While the tray bake is cooling, you can make the icing. To start put the icing sugar into a large bowl and add in a couple drops of water and mix until you have a smooth consistency. You want the icing to be smooth enough to spread across the cake without being too runny so it settles, if itās too runny add more icing sugar. Once you have the perfect consistency add in a drop of the food colouring, add more drops if you want the green colour to be darker. This will be to resemble the grass on the cake (which will go onto the cake which represents the ground in the garden (soil).
6) Once your cake has cooled you can then spread or pipe the green icing across the whole tray bake. Finally now comes the fun part start decorating!!! You can arrange all your little extra treats and decorations across the whole garden š
